With a weekend full of soccer comes a weekend full of Colombian cracks starring in action. We will jump right into it and review some of the highlights of the week.
We start in Mexico where Liga MX kicked off Friday night. It didn’t take long for the large and growing list of Colombian footballers to make their mark. Julian Quiñones scored his first goal with Lobos de la BUAP as they tied 2-2 against Santos in their first match of the season. That same night Jaine Barreiro (El General Barreiro), a player recently featured on our site would play the full 90 in Atlas convincing 3-0 victory over Leon.
In MLS action, Mauro Manotas scored the eventual game winner in the Houston Dynamo’s 3-1 win against DC united.
In Brazil, Orlando Berrio scored the opening goal for Flamengo in their 2-1 victory over Coritiba
Moving to China, where Roger Martinez scored the first and assisted on the third goal of Jiangsu Suning’s 4-0 blowout win over Liaoning Hongyun Saturday night. Lastly, on Sunday it was Giovanni Moreno’s turn as he scored the lone goal for Shanghai Shenhua in their 2-1 loss to Beijing Guoan. This goal also happen to be our goal of the week. Watch Giovani’s smooth trap, turn, and cool finish. Equally as fun is his celebration, as the Colombian flag armband comes off and crowns the flagpole. A Golazo and great celebration! Watch!
